Dahnyka, handmaiden to the Lady Ella in the legendary city of Renim, is living with a secret; she has magic. 
 
With visions that portend the future and the ability to bring her deepest desires to life, Dahnyka struggles with her conscience daily. When her dreams warn her of the theft of a valuable object that, in the wrong hands, will threaten the futures of those she holds most dear, she desperately searches for a way to join the band tasked with reclaiming it. 
 
Reluctant to share her secret, she is forced to trust the men she travels with. In them she finds courage, honour and love as she learns that her blood is special. Descended of war heroes and kin to the most powerful man who has ever lived, Dahnyka realizes that her life was never meant to be spent in servitude.
